Hassan Taftian
100m
Was part of Olympic 2016, came 22nd.
If he makes it to semifinal it will good and come top 15 it would be huge! But to make that he have to come under 10 sec I believe and he have been close in last tournaments but never achieved that.
Mehdi Pirjahan
400m hurdle
He is a young and up and coming athlete in Iran. Maybe not a medal candidate this time but in time he can be one.
21 year old. Came 7th three years ago in U20 WC. That means he was 18 years old and competed against older guys. one Year after he was in WC as 19year old. He have cut his time with 1 second in 1 year. To get a Medal he should cut it with one second again. 2019 to 2021, 19-21 years old. There is room for progress. But worth keeping a eye on this guy.
Farzaneh Fasihi
She is really fast at first 50-60m but then she falls of. She have moved to Serbia ore Montenegro and trains and runs there for a club.
There is much talk around her. But base on results I believe if he get to semifinal she have done huge. Her best outdoor in 2018 was 11,78. No as she have moved abroad and she have done progress that mean if she is in a good first heat, she can get trough.
She is very good at indoor 60m but I 100m international level I am unsure. But really positive women!
Ehsan Haddadi
Discus throw
Got silver in 2012 London. But after that it went down. But to this Olympic he is a serious contender for a medal. His results at late have been great, If he throws as he have done as late, he can bring home a medal.
He have had two throws at international level over 65m. But he need to have bring it up to 66 at least ore hopefully 67m to get a medal.
Sorayya Aghaei
Badminton
First ever women's badminton player from Iran in Badminton. She dont have the experience at the highest international. And have to win her group. Sadly she is in same group as He Bingjiao from China. She is ranked as nr.8 in the world (Aghaei ranked 111).
Mojtaba Abedini
Fencing
Most of you know him I think. This is his 3rd Olympic. In 2016 he came 4th. So he is a hope for Iran to get a medal, and great that would be? Our first medal in fencing
Sajjad Ganjzadeh
75kg+ Karate
Its first year of Karate in Olympic ? Ganjizadeh have many international medals so he is a sure contender for a medal
He got silver in 2018 WC in Madrid. As total he have 1 gold and 2 silver in WC.
He have all his medals from 85kg+ class so I am a little bit sceptic how it will be to go down 10kg.
Sara Bahmanyar
Karate -55kg
She is only 22 years old and already won bronze in WC 2018 at age of 19!
Three years older and it just right to say she is a medal contender.
Hamideh Abbasali
Karate, 61kg
Well she have a silver and bronze from WC but that is from 2014 and 2016. She also will go down from 7 kg from the weight class she have medals from.
Nazanin Malaei
Women Single Sculls
She have already pulled a upset by getting to quarter finals. She finished 3rd and leading almost halfway. Her time was good as well. A medal? I think its to hard, but anyway she have set Iran on the map in this sport, and maybe she can make a upset at WC 2021 Shanghai.
Mirhashem Hosseini

He is 22 years old and a medal favourite. He already have a silver in WC. But his first match is hard one so..... he wins that one much can happen.

Just watched Rahbari beat France in a very close match in fencing. He’s very cool and calm (there’s a lot of yelling in fencing).
