My solution would be the following:
1. Get rid of tie-breaker criteria in Greco. Put in extra rounds of fights until there is a winner. What is the point of splitting up the competition if they wont maximize the benefits of it?
2. Get rid of the passivity shot clocks and reinstate automatic par-terre for each wrestler. The thing is everyone will feel like they were the more active wrestlers and judges themselves can get it wrong. Other times like this they can use it to be biased.
I dont get how tie breaker isnt just more rounds or last point wins. I feel from the standpoint of more viewership, maximizing excitement, etc that is the most obvious thing to do.
Our 2 best Greco medal chances will compete tomorrow. Not the best draw but not terrible either. 77kg doesn't have a clear gold medal favourite. I hope Geraei can beat Cuba as we don't usually match up well with them!
Saravi on the other hand has to beat the 2 athletes that beat him in 2019 worlds if he wants to reach the final.
Yes, should Lopez win, we will meet Reza Kaylaap (one of the greatest heavy weight Greco Wrestlers ever). So slim if not zero chances for a medal in 130 kgs.
a chance, yes.
But I don’t think he will make it. I hope I am wrong.
First he has to beat the European champion Alexuc-Chiaurariu and then he has to fight vs one of the best Greco wrestlers ever in the history, Reza Kayaap.
