Have we ever had an Olympian win 2 gold medals in one year? Maybe foroughi can be first

I just did a quick check in our medal history. If I am not mistaken, we only have one athlete with multiple gold medals in Olympics. Hossein Rezazadeh won gold in weightlifiting in 2000 and 2004. We have never had an athlete with 2 golds in one olympics.

Foroughi had a perfect 2nd round. He scored a total of 196 (96+100) and Hanieh got a total of 186 (92+94). Had Hanieh not had such an awful first round we could have qualified for not only the bronze medal match but also the gold medal match.

A real shame Foroughi had the best total score in these groups while his partner tied for the lowest total score.

No. First it was the qualification round with top 8 teams moving on. Then it was this round that just ended with the top 2 teams moving to gold medal match and teams 3 and 4 moving to bronze medal match. We finished 5th so we dont even get to fight for a bronze medal.

Feel bad for Hanieh. She probably feels like she let Foroughi down. She’s young so she’ll get more chances in the future

Yes this is summer only. I don’t think we have ever medaled in the winter games.

In case anyone is interested, United States has won a total of 2535 medals in Olympic summer games all time of which 1029 are gold.
