Iran started off very sheepish and low energy. They couldn't catch up after giving up a large lead. They also had more service faults in the match. Finally, Canada blocked the crap out of our hitters today. Overall, it was a perfect storm of our own faults and the opponent being on their best game that led to the loss.

Yes, but the group is still wide open. Destiny is in our own hands. Win any one of the next 2 games and we guarantee advancement. Simple as that. We have the ability to beat any team, it’s the mental side that needs work.

It's totally normal to have an off day. No team can always perform at their best. We can't compete against such teams if we don't play relatively close to our best.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters is to get out of the group and win that quarterfinal.
If we get to the semi-finals I'm very happy.

We are always going to face a strong team in the quarterfinals. It will be important to be on our best in that game.

I'm sure the team will come back against Italy who by the way haven't looked any special so far.

Typical Iran to beat the favorites and then lose against a team like Canada.

We’re never successfull when considered favorites.
We can’t cope with it, mental issue that needs to be dealt with if we want to be successfull in the long run.

Iranian volleyball has only started being anywhere near decent for 10 years or so, so yes historically, Italy has our number - but we do have wins against Italy.

if iran volley lose to italy it will likely need a win vs japan to advance. that game is easily 50/50 game. bad twist of events losing 3-0. losing 2-3 would have helped much more

Just read Ebadipours post match interview.

He said that we didn’t have enough time for recovery( between the games) but then says it’s all an excuse and we were disastrous today. He says if we had played 10% better we would have won 3-0.

He thanks Canada for the timely slap because we were flying high after our wins against Poland and Venezuela.

He says that Italy is a great team and reigning olympic finalist, but we will try to get a good result.

Soraya is playing excellent. The chinese is a top 10 player, Soraya is ranked outside top 100.

The chinese girl is rankes nr 7 in World and juge favorite in this match.
The physical difference is huge. She is faster and better stamina. Soraya makes often after mistakes after a long back and forward.
