Can one of our knowledgeable members breakdown our Karate chances now that the draws are out?

Not an expert but did some online digging.

This guy "https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/olympic-games/en/results/karate/athlete-profile-n1284739-ganjzadeh-sajad.htm" won the world championship in karate 84+ kilo in 2016 so perhaps there is a chance?
Also we have to female participants both have won respectable places at world championships so perhaps?

Thanks brother. Yes I think Sajjad definitely has a medal chance even a gold medal chance. I also think our two women representatives can win medals if they perform to their potential and have good draws.

Everyone talking about doping the past week; With all due respect, if you're an Olympic level athlete fighting for a medal you cannot not be doping. When amateurs do it so often and have proper training and doping plans in place for how to optimally do it do you think a professional athlete wouldn't have the best coaches to do the same? A top level olympian is already training at his peak of what his body can do, do you really think a clean athlete will ever be able to compete with an athlete who's able to perform 30-50% more training volume cause of doping in the offseason?

There is a whole argument about making doping not illegal since everyone does it anyway and what it causes is those countries with not as much experience in doping to get caught but since a lot of people think these athletes are clean (as seen in this forum) making such a move official would bring a lot of backlash

bahman asgari and the Italian both are odds 2 to 1 to win, so both are huge favorites for gold/silver.

no other iranian is big chance for gold but sajad is said to have big medal chances in a weight class that is very open without any sole favorite

But Asgari isn't in these Olympics. Our only male representative is Sajjad.

Naifonov wasn't even close today. Yazdani didn't push with all strength during the first 2 underhooks in the fight and let Naifonov off the hook. He also looke defensively extremely sound!

For example during the first clear underhook Naifonov almost fled the mat, whilst Yazdani didnt execute his usual underhook with elbows up+pressure+knee pick ...

Now it is up. I think my analysis captures many things regular fans dont see that have never wrestled. But informed opinions differ and I beg people to comment, question, agree or disagree with the analysis. This is how we all learn as a collective. I really dont wanna come around as some kind of self proclaimed expert even though I have experience of wrestling since youth days.

For now I'm just sad we didn't get any medals in fencing I love our athletes, so I think it's sad we always have to rely on wrestling and weightlifting at the Olympics to get medals

Dame Reza Geraei vaghean garm. Aghaei kard to in Olymoics.
He was in much toughest side of bracket with both Georgian and German wrestlers, he beat them both. He is only 25 and doesn't even have world champs medal.
The Ukrainian(well Azeri) guy who lost to him in final didn't even deserve to have medal. Same as Egyptian. Both German and Georgian wrestlers were much better.
All to say luck and being in right bracket play alot.
Ask Asgari Mohammadian. Iran luckiest wrestler ever lol
Hope his son have a bit of his dad luck in Olympics.

Well said. He has the composure, ability and mentality of a winner. No saying I don't have this or that, or I don't have that experience or this... just did his best and beat everyone he had to! Pahlevan truly.

Mohammadreza Geraei receiving the gold. He entered games as "The Falcon's" younger brother. He maintains that his older brother is his idol and taught him how to wrestle. In the end it is he who clinches gold while his brother honestly lost his composure a bit in key moments. There were many times he had questionable ref calls against him where he could have lost his focus or deviated from game plan,. Many of our wrestlers have done so and paid the price. For Geraei never came to close to happening.

From the very first match vs the colombian he was assured, calculated, and deadly. Only age 25.

Cant wait to see more of him at age 28 in paris, and the worlds before that!

Honestly how is this Georgian just breaking world records without a sweat? How can he be so much better than anyone else? With so many lifters and countries getting caught doping I am so surprised he hasn't been disqualified for these Olympics. I know this comment is very accusatory but I just cant wrap my head around just how much stronger he is than anyone else.

I think he’s just a genetic freak but he has been busted for roids before
