now that I see the fight yazdani was not worse, a bit unlucky but looked to me more active. taylor just a mental rock here, same as yazdani actually too. they are the best both in 86 kg.

this last attack of taylor, like a jaguar basically. no chance here probably for yazdani to react.

If it gives you peace of mind, even if it had been a point the 4-4 tiebreak would have gone to Taylor given the takedown.

If anyone likes books about mental toughness, i suggest reading Dan Gable’s book. The most decorated American wrestler ever.

I honestly think he is one of the few that can deal with the pressure. But still, it seems unnecessary and excessive. I mean come on, IRIB putting camera in guy's home to show live reaction of his parents at same time as fight. When has that ever been ok / a thing?

I think it is bc of that loss to taylor in Worlds he adopted with coaches this more defensive tactic. Issue was as you say I think that loss weighed too heavily on them. Yes, he needed to be more conservative but that was overly conservative.

After cooling off a bit I think looking back he did have the right tactics in that he looked for scrappy points, a strong defense against Taylor’s aggression. If not for that tiny lapse in concentration with just 20 seconds left, it would’ve paid off. I feel like Hassan could’ve done more with some of the underhooks he managed to get though, maybe showed a bit too much respect but at the end of the day both wrestlers met their match and treated us to a fantastic competition after blowing everybody else out of the water. Hope to see those two rematch soon and I hope Hassan can get his revenge because who doesn’t like a good sporting rivalry?

His tactics weren't that bad. He was 10 seconds away basically from a gold.

Also can someone explain to me why Yazdani changed his weight class from the last Olympics?

The camera is for pretty much everyone for gold, not only him
They do that since long time. Nothing new.

The US broadcasts simulcast parent/hometown reactions to Olympic matches in real time and also connect US athletes with parents via Microsoft Teams (sponsor) after they win the medal. Kinda cheezy, but many countries with the techonolgical abilities do it. Here's examples:

I just watched a replay of the match (didnt know result). that was heartbreaking. seeing the Yazdani pictures after hurts. IMO Yazdani had the correct tactics the entire match, however, with 30 seconds left he should have put some of his wrestling moves to use especially KNOWING DT would need to attack to win. At the end of the day Yaz will feel regret because he knows he didnt wrestle his best. this sucks more because 1) its USA 2) Yaz was 0-2 vs DT, now 0-3.

I also think theres a part of DT that had a mental edge, 2-0 against Yaz and had never won olympic gold, Yazdani at least had '16 RIO although I'm sure he wanted this as well, but you know it makes a small mental difference sometimes.

Again, very heartbreaking. DT deserved to win for sure but I cant help but feel Yazdani could have done an incredible move at the end to secure it. it seems in wrestling the more passive player is always punished in the end. I would have rather lost to technical superiority than this fashion...

A lifetime of preparation came down to 15 seconds at the end. On any other day, it could have gone Yazdani's way. That's why it's so painful for all of us, including Yazdani, his family, his coaches, his hometown.

and both of those matches came down to fitness didnt it? Wasnt Yazdani winning early in those matches? Apparently he worked on his fitness so he should have just gone with his game. Yazdani didnt attack much so it's clear it came from someones gameplan. I will always say, Iranians have great wrestling TRAINERS, not COACHES. Americans have good coaching.

Apparently he himself has stated his natural weight is around 89kg; it can be very taxing on your body to try and maintain yourself over 20kg less than what is comfortable

Losing weight is something which kills lots of wrestlers, and affects their performances, specially in weights.
