What’s going on with this stamina and mental discussion. It has nothing to do with that. Their is many other factors that are the case here. The tactics, style, quality. I watched the Americans matches and they have better quality. Their attacking skills are way better than ours. The odds before the game also indicated that yazdani wasn’t the favorite. We need to get better and it’s not only about mental preparation or fitness. We need to get better overall. And we need to wrestle more modern. We are still wrestling like we did in the early 2000.

Yazdani popularity is beyond his medals, performances. And sometime people wonder we had more decorated wrestlers than him and why he is so popular.
In 30 years of following the sport(and i also practiced a bit FS when i was teenage), even thought i followed it less closely in last few years, i barely seen a star iranian wrestler as composed, humble, calm and down to earth as him.
That is why people compare his generosity, pahlevooni, and manners to Agha Takhti.
Yes, no one will become Agha Takhti II but he is a role model for lots of young wrestlers

Combination of DT not expecting it, and being on the offense himself, Yazdani could've caught him off guard and gained more points. Of course, I am armchair quarterbacking here, and could be completely wrong.

I can only think of one wrestler off top my head in the most recent time whose stamina was the best and that was Saeed Abdevali. And unfortunately we know how his olympic dreams were shattered.

Reading Taylor´s comments in English Press, one thing we can also learn from them is their extreme overconfidence and sometimes (maybe useful/healthy) their arrogance. Its all part of the game really. They play this smart. That´s were they are way better than us, much more than stamina/mental. For them wrestling is not pahlavani or javanmardi, its just winning by all costs. This is how the guy went into the fight. Yazdani wanted it 100%. He wanted it 1000%.
Another issue: They are much less afraid of our great athletes than we are of theirs.
Taylor was/is actually respectful of Yazdani. But he showed no fear of him during the fight. Yazdani the same, but it was a very slight difference toward the end. An epic fight. Hope Yazdani can beat in 2 months.Sign against banning Iran from WorldCup!!!

The tactics was great. It was the execution of the tactics that lacked. He knows how to shoot succesfully. He knows how to shoot succesfully against DT. It was a lapse and error. The scoreboard gets tight in fights like these if both have good tactics. He was leading up to 10 seconds left. On another day he would've won.
People critize his tactics against Naifonov too. How many attacks did he stop? Should he have gone in with another tactic ... like the one where he was more offensive during their second meeting in worlds? no. Should he attack more in this fight? Definetaly.
But it all comes down to execution at this level. On this day, he didn't execute as well as he should have.
Look there are levels to this sport. Margins at this level are tight. Sometimes you lose. That's it!
He had bad luck!
On a side note: If there is anything this whole thing can learn him is that he should've perfected the strategy more. Prepared for a longer period of time.
Why?
Because the rest of the opposition can't touch him. It's not enough with 4 fights at asians as preparation.

There is talk about stamina issue here. Key indicator of stamina are NOT heavyweight wrestlers or even top half of the weightclasses. It's the lower part of the weightclasses. When a 65 kg guy loses his stamina we should be worried.
I don't think people in here appreciate how relentless Naifonov was. Compare Naifonovs intensity and handfighting and shooting against Yazdani compared to against that nobody Shapiev Are we to believe that the fight against a Naifonov that wrestled his guts out is a good indicator?
The other person that has gassed Yazdani in a more immense fashion is Taylor. Lets flip the side of the coin for a bit and look at Taylor: He breaks down EVERYBODY. That's why I'm suspicious of him. The way he breaks down wrestlers, it just don't happen. Either he is a freak athlete that comes once in 100 years stamina wise or he is from Mars....something is not right! You can't underhook this guy for 6 minutes. It's not Yazdanis fault. Now ask yourselves: Why can Yazdani underhook 99 out of 100 guys but not this? Does Taylors stamina look human to you guys?

Third and lastly: There is talk about Yazdani should've been more technical and better his "game". Well yes, one should always do that. But can you compete in scrambling with a person that has folkstyle wrestled his entire life and is a top contender in every tournament? NO. It's not like you can decide when one is 27 and be like .. oh that folkstyle looks pretty amazing and would of been to my benefit! Lets perfect this in 1-2 years and try against the best scrambler! It doesn't work this way.
If we want to talk about Iranian wrestlers and their level of scrambling then we're talking about a 20 year project from bottom up nationwide!
