As DT mentioned, Yaz was stronger and could have won it. The timing was the issue in several cities if he won, how to control the crowd. Millions could demonstrate and chant.
you are trolling/joking right? There is no way man. Yazdani is extremely popular in Iran but I dont see millions pouring in the street for his olympic gold, lol. so he slammed the mat and kicked a chair and seemed to breakdown crying because he was instructed to?

One honest thought about 86 and 92 kg weight classes. In worlds competitions they should try send down Ghassempour to 86 kg and move up Yazdani to 92 and give it a try. Like most iranian wrestling fans I want to see how Ghassempour handles 86 kg weight class. He is a better shooter than Yazdani! Fast as a lightweight. Seem to be stronger built too!

Whatever the wrestlers and the iranian federation goes for: Ghassempour is the future in the division! If you guys haven't watched him, take a look! He is 23-24 years of age!

Other up and coming future champions is the son of Masoumi, Amir-Reza! We will be stacked at Heavyweight too!

Ghasempour competed in 92 in Asian championship. Will be hard to go back to 86.
              He is 25

The time was different than Yaz timing which coincided with swearing ceremony.

If we truly want to see our wrestling doing pishraft we have serious issues in the transition from cadets/juniors level to senior:

it is in the interregnum between juniors and seniors that our wrestling takes most damage. Our kids don't get opportunities at next level competition and resources are scarce: We try out talents in takhti cup, plus world cups and the league to some extent.

If we want to see our wrestling youth doing pish-raft we have to send them to minor competition outside of Iran most preferably Russia: Aliev cup, Alans and Yargin. Let them get forged in steel! Get a taste of tough competition in every fight!

honestly I dont even mind they let Yazdani rest for a bit and don't send him to worlds.

His direct competition in his weight class (Kamran Ghassempour) is an excellent wrestler who also deserves a chance, he has pushed yazdani since they were kids in juybar.

Give hassan a few months to rest body + mind and then set him a very select program to prepare for Paris.

The world championship is in 2 months in Norway. We will probably see few guys who didn't make the olympics.
Also olympics is this time in 3 years. Most of these guys will still be around. Probably Ghasempoor replacing Mohamadian who is 29

No way Ghassempour can compete at 97, IMHO he is way too small! But ofc maybe you're right. Technically yes! But there are big beasts. Technically we saw Karimi holding his own and outcompeting known 97 kg guys ... but the size difference was noticeable.

Also agreeing on this one: This World championships as you say, there is no way on earth anyone will manage weight cuts!

Bichare. He has more responsibility and humility than 99% of Iranians.

To be clear: If they face high level russians early in their careers they will be experienced in worlds semis knowing them well. Russians are already good at game-planning so it will not be to their benefit.
