Iran to send women’s volleyball team to 2022 Asian Games after 48 years
Iran, for the last time, participated at the 1974 Asian Games, where the Persian women came fifth.
They had also competed in the 1966 in Thailand and won a bronze medal.
Now, Davarzani says that the Iranian volleyball team, headed by Alessandra Campedelli, will take part in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
“Our strategy is to have a special look at women’s volleyball. Fifteen years ago, we started the support of our men’s volleyball team and moved up from 27th to eighth place,” Davarzani said.
“Iran’s men’s team are among the top 10 teams in the world at the moment and it took a lot of energy, but we want to do the same in the Iranian women's volleyball,” he added.
“To achieve our goals in women's volleyball, we planned to use the experiences of good coaches in the world. After consulting with Julio Velasco (former Iran coach) and other friends, Campdelli was introduced to us and the Italian coach began working with the federation.
“She has experience working with different categories and ages. In addition, she had worked with the Italian boys' team, and for this reason, we came to the conclusion that Campdelli can help the Iranian women's volleyball team achieve their goals,” Davarzani said.

Iran finish 30th in 2022 IHF Women's Junior World Championship
The Iranian girls lost to Italy 35-20 on Friday in President’s Cup.
Iran started the campaign with a 19–19 draw with Guinea in Group B. The team lost to Tunisia 29-24 and Sweden 33-15 in their following matches.
The Persians also lost to India 31-30 and Slovakia 37-22 in the President’s Cup.
Iran registered their first ever win in the world championship by defeating Mexico 46-26 but lost to Italy 35-20 in the 29th place match.
The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Hungary have qualified for the competition’s semifinals.Comment

Iran fall short against Korea at Asian Women’s U20 Volleyball Championship
Iran had lost to Thailand 3-0 in their opening match but emerged victorious over Kazakhstan in Pool A.
Iran will play India on Sunday in the 5th–8th Classification round.
The competition is being held at the Nazarbayev University Spot Complex in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from July 4 to 11.
The champion and vice-champion teams shall earn direct berths as Asian representatives in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U21 World Championship, with the host city to be announced at a later date.
