IBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers

Kazakhstan proved that their win over Iran this past February was not an outlier. Kazakhstan repeated the feat, defeating Iran 68-60 at the Saryarka Velodrome in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's top playmaker, Rustam Murzagaliyev, seized the opportunity to show his shooting prowess in this match. He led all scorers with 26 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Dmitriy Gavrilov and Roman Marchuk also did well with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Iconic big man Hamed Haddadi finally returned to action for Iran in his first game of this World Cup Qualifiers, scoring 18 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots.

Iran and Kazakhstan will face each other again in the upcoming Asia Cup as they are both in Group C, fiba.basketball reported.

Iran, headed by Saeid Armaghani, will travel to Aleppo to play Syria.

Iran sit second in Group D with eight points, two points behind Kazakhstan.

Haddadi excited for highly anticipated Asia Cup 2022

Haddadi has played in several Asia Cups but says he still is excited to play in the competition.

“Any game, I'm excited. Any tournament, I'm excited,” Haddadi told FIBA. Com.

“I like to see good players especially when Australian and New Zealand play. It's good for us. You want to see good players, good teams. And if you want to get better, you should play against big teams, good teams,” the center added.

Iran will start the campaign with a match against Syria in Pool A. The Persian will also play Kazakhstan and Japan on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

The competition will be played from July 12 to 24 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Iran Beats Syria at 2022 FIBA Asia Cup Opener

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Syria 80-67 in the opening match of the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup on Wednesday.
Iran’s Behnam Yakhchali bagged 31 points and Hani Adribe, Amer Alsati and Anthouny Bakar scored 12 points for Syria each.

Tem Melli will also play Kazakhstan and Japan on July 15 and 17, respectively.

The Group Phase is played from July 12-17. The 16 teams competing in Asia Cup 2022 were drawn into four groups of four.

Every group winner will gain direct access to the quarter final, while runners-up will play third placed teams in a playoff games.

The 2022 FIBA Asia Cup is being held in Jakarta, Indonesia from July 12 to 24.

According to Tehran Times, Saeid Armaghani’s men had previously defeated Syria and Kazakhstan in the group and needed the victory against Japan to top the group.

Iran will play the winners of Chinese Taipei and Jordan on Wednesday.

Every group winner gains direct access to the quarterfinals, while runners-up play for third place in playoff games.

The competition kicked off on July 12 in Jakarta, Indonesia and will run until July 24

I remember watching Hamed back during the Grizzlies. So much pride playing with him in 2k, where he was actually a great backup big man. He had a lot of potential and showcased it when he got minutes on the Suns, but that racist ass Hornecek dropped him. He was also missing athleticism but that could've been worked on with hard work and conditioning

We lost to Jordan and are out. Won't reach semis.
