The ref will be suspended again most likely, as he was during the 2002 world cup for 'irregular calls' or some shit.

Shocking !!! That was a lousy referee and Italy played terrible early on, while Souffle again showed they were mediocre despite getting a few chances. Had it not been for that oblivious Zaccardo own goal (which was stupid) Italy should have been 1-0 winners.

both pure red cards, the only BAD calls were the two offside calls against italy which they scored

how can u say that Italy should have been winners....i a non biased view, the U.S. deserved the tie or even a win and if that own goal wouldnt have happened the U.S. would have never rested back in defense.......so u cant really make a statement like that.

u shouldnt let ur hatred towards a country be the decisive factor on judging how good the U.S. played against Italy. they put on a very good game despite being down a man. besides since u live in the U.S. and u can leave whenever u want......ur in our stadium so cheer us or get the hell out.....

                      Fifa Defends The Red Cards!

FIFA: Red and yellow cards warranted

Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda sent American Pablo Mastroeni to the locker room in the 45th minute for a studs-up tackle, the American midfielder later claiming the challenge would rate only a yellow card "anywhere in the world."

FIFA:It means the message is getting through.
After a slow start, referees had dished out five red cards, including three in Saturday's 1-1 draw between Italy and the United States, and 11 players had received two yellows after half the 48 group matches.
Italy finished with 10 men and the United States played almost the entire second half with nine.
Angola, Australia, Ivory Coast, Japan and the United States have had gripes with refereeing decisions in Germany. But FIFA communications director Markus Siegler said the general standard of refereeing had been solid.
"If you count the number of red and yellow cards ... it's in proportion," with what is happening on the field, he said.
Before Sunday's games, referees had handed out 136 yellow cards and 10 reds in 24 matches.
Daniele De Rossi received a red card and was expecting a harsh sanction for elbowing U.S. forward Brian McBride's face as he jumped for a header in the 28th minute.
"Yesterday, we had a rather ugly scene, the character of which was one of the issues addressed before the World Cup," Siegler said. "A phenomenon we're seeing increasingly with headers - people taking a run up, using their elbows to leap higher. This can lead to injuries. "This was correctly identified and appropriately sanctioned."

What? hatred for a country? that is definetly not the case...if I hated it I wouldnt be living here! I hate the team and their attitude. I dont like players like Donovan and others talking so highly of themselves and think they have come so far and 'are going to win it or go far', they have much more money and facilities than most the countries out there yet they still think its their talent that leads them. They are poroo players with even more poroo and biased analysts/commentators, they need to realize that they are just a regular north american team with extra money being the main factor for their minor recent success...this world cup will be a wake up call for them thanks to Czech, but its unfortunate Italy played terrible and still drawed (thanks to an own goal!)...yet they keep complaining about the refs and bragging about the game thinking they dominated, wait till they get kicked out after Ghana, then they'll hopefully shut their mouths and let the play do the talking!

I lost all respect for Italy after that DeRossi foul on McBride, dirtiest play I have ever seen.

I hate Italy with passion (their football team). I never thought I would actually cheer for the U.S.A, but I did today
We thank and support Mr.Kamran Delan for many years of dedication and service to Iranian Football Community.

oh god, like if Iran had the money they wouldnt spend it on soccer(oh yeah probably not cause the mullahs would eat it up)......plus money has isnt that improtant in soccer.....are Brazil or Aregntina rich nations with alot of extra money? i respect the U.S. for the attention they are trying to give to the sport of football (soccer). i just think that people are just mad at the fact that the only thing other nations were better at than the U.S. was soccer and that gap is closing down. more and more people here are watching soccer and enjoying it. pretty soon the olympics and the world cup will belong to the U.S.
