PTV – BUSHEHR, Tehran’s popular soccer team Persepolis has been given a hammering by Shahin FC 4-1 at the Shahid Beheshti Stadium in Bushehr.

The hosts took the lead when Shahin’s Iraqi defender Mohammad Nasser Shakroun scored the opener after 20 minutes on Saturday.
Shahin doubled the advantage through midfielder Mehdi Kiani who sent the ball over Persepolis goalie Misagh Memarzadeh 15 minutes later.
In the 66th minute, midfielder Mohammad Ahmadpouri made it 3-0 and Hamidreza Soleymani netted the fourth after the Reds’ keeper failed to catch an easy ball two minutes later.
Persepolis Iraqi player Hawar Mulla Mohammed scored the only goal for his side in stoppage time.
“Shahin showed one of its best performances and proved that it’s a qualified team,” said Shahin’s manager Mahmoud Yavari.
Persepolis newly-appointed coach Ali Daei called it the heaviest defeat in his sports life.
“Persepolis’ defeat by Shahin was the heaviest defeat in my sports life,” Daei said. “I can hardly believe it.”
He further apologized to the club’s fans for his team’s performance in the match.
Sepahan currently tops the standings with 45 points, followed by Zob Ahan at 42. Steel Azin sits third with 36 points after 23 matches in the Iranian Premier League (IPL).
