PFDC – LEEUWARDEN, Iranian national team coach Afshin Ghotbi travelled to the Netherlands to observe 22-year-old striker Reza Ghoochannejhad in his debut for first division team SC Cambuur last weekend.

The pacy striker, born in the Iranian city of Mashad and therefore eligible to play for Team Melli, is nicknamed “Gucci” and emerged from SC Heerenveen’s youth team. He proved his goal instict during loan stints at first division teams FC Emmen and Go Ahead Eagles, before signing with the latter team in 2009.

After six goals in just ten matches for the Eagles, “Gucci” moved to second placed SC Cambuur Lewuwarden in January in order to support their promotion ambitions, and immediately scored the 1-0 winner against Veendam last weekend.

The goal, marked just ten seconds into the game, was the seventh fastest goal ever scored in Dutch professional football.
