Zob Ahan beats Al Wahda in ACL opener [VIDEO]
MNA – ESFAHAN, Zob Ahan of Isfahan started its Asian Champions League campaign with a victory over Al Wahda of the UAE on Tuesday.
The Iranian representative beat Al Wahda 1-0 at the Foolad Shahr Stadium in Group B of the tournament.
Brazilian Igor Castro put Zob Ahan ahead in the 60th minute with a well-targeted shoot outside of the penalty area.
Zob Ahan was the dominant team and created many good opportunities during the match but the strikers didn’t take advantage of them.
Sepahan is scheduled to play Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab on Wednesday in Group C at the King Fahd International Stadium. This Isfahani team is the only Iranian participant to have made it to the final in these past few years.
In Group D Mes of Kerman who is in the Iran Professional League relegation zone will host Al Ahli of Emirates at the Shahid Bahonar Stadium on the same day.
