Iran renews bid to host Futsal WC

PTV – Iran has renewed its bid for hosting the 2012 Futsal World Cup, after FIFA initially replaced Iran with Thailand, which is deep in political unrest.
“Iran’s developing position has provided the opportunity for the country to host the 2012 Futsal World Cup,” the President of the Iranian Futsal Committee Abbas Torabian was quoted by IRINN as saying.
“Iran can excel as a good host to the Futsal World Cup. FIFA admits that Iran has the chance to win the bid,” he added.
FIFA said it had ruled out Iran because it did not receive the documents needed from the Iranian football federation, Torabian said.
“It is still questionable how Thailand, the country that had withdrawn its bid, was chosen as the host,” he added.
Torabian stressed that Iran was ready to present any documents needed to be allowed to host the tournament.
The recent political turmoil in Thailand has raised concerns over the country’s preparedness to host the Futsal World Cup.
