Karimi8PFDC – LJUBILJANA, Iran’s national team held Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade to a 1-1 draw in a test match in Slovenia on Wednesday afternoon.

Red Star started the game dominantly and the logical result was defender Vilotic’s 1-0 after a corner kick in minute 14.

However, Iran found back into the game thanks to a penalty kick one minute before halftime, which was converted by veteran playmaker Ali Karimi.

While Mehdi Rahmati in Iran’s goal had been quite busy before the break, there was barely anything to do for him in second half. But also Iran, now being the more dangerous side, failed to add a second goal.

Iran will now return to Austria to continue their training camp and to play further club teams, among them Italian side S.S. Lazio.

Below comes Iran’s lineup against Red Star.

Rahmati – Heydari, Aghily, Hosseini, Hajsafi (68′ Nosrati) – Ashoubi, P. Nouri – Karimi (68′ Mobali), Zanidpour (60′ Khalatbari), Madanchi (46′ Rezaei) – Ansarifard (65′ Meydavoudi)
