U-19 football in Lobanovsky tourney
MNA – KIEV, Iranian U-19 football team will take part in the Valeri Lobanovsky Memorial Tournament which will be held in August in Ukraine.
Iran is scheduled to face the Ukrainian outfit on August 10 at the Boreks Stadium, Borodianka in Kiev Oblast. Russia will play Turkey in another match.
Iran is gearing up for the AFC U-19 Championship which will be held in China in October. The Persians are in Group D along with Yemen, Australia and the Korea Republic.
Valeri Lobanovskyi was a Ukrainian football manager famous for his spells managing Dynamo Kyiv, the Ukraine national football team, and the USSR national football team. In 1975 his team became the first side from the Soviet Union to win a major European trophy. He was notorious for both his highly scientific and harsh disciplinarian approaches to management.
