Iranian duo absent from Osasuna training

PFDC – PAMPLONA, Javad Nekounam and Masoud Shojaei have not reported to Osasuna’s preseason training camp and meanwhile are two days overdue.

The duo is missing unexcused and has not just failed to contact the club, but also are not reachable on their cell phones.

Additionally, all efforts by the club to make contact via their agent Reza Fazeli have been unsuccessful as well.

In opposition to earlier similar incidents, this time there is no obvious reason for Nekounam and Shojaei to not return to their club in time, as they this time have no national team obligations. In fact the two have been crossed off the national team’s training camp roster to assure their timely arrival in Pamplona after their summer holidays.

While Shojaei is not part of coach Camacho’s plans anymore anyway after their recent signing of striker Lekic from Red Star Belgrade as fourth non-EU foreigner (which exceeds the allowed quota by one), Nekounam is still considered a keyplayer of the team.

Such indiscipline might not only have severe financial consequences for the players, but also might impair Shojaei’s chances on the transfer market and Nekounam’s standing in the team.
