Iranians apologize to Osasuna
PFDC – PAMPLONA, Javad Nekounam and Masoud Shojaei have publicly apologized for showing up four days late to Osasuna’s preseason training camp, Spanish sports magazine “Marca” reports.
The Iranians, despite being in Spain and having no national team obligations, were missing from the training ground without any excuse and where not reachable on their cell phones either. The club showed a tough reaction, excluding the duo from the regular team training for one week and announcing a huge financial punishment on them.
“The whole issue was a misunderstanding between our agent and the club. We thought we’d have the permission to rejoin the team a few days later than the rest of the squad, which hasn’t been the case, so we will accept the sanctions of the club”, Nekounam was quoted on the club’s official homepage.
The duo went on to apologize to the president of the club, the coach, the fans and the leading players of the club and thanked coach Camacho for his cooperative stance in this difficult case.
Nekounam concluded by saying that he will “play for Osasuna with 100% dedication” and that he hopes the supporters will forgive them.
“I arrived late for training, but now I’m here to defend Osasuna’s jersey with all my heart.”
