Nekounam backs Mahdavikia and Hashemian comeback

MNA – TEHRAN, Iran football captain looks forward to see veterans Mehdi Mahdavikia, Ali Karimi and Vahid Hashemian come back to their national duty.

Osasuna midfielder, who will accompany Iran in a warm-up match against Armenia on Wednesday, said the experienced players will definitely help Iran have a better performance.

“They are my best friends and I’d like to see them in the national team again. We will be able to get better results with them,” Nekounam said.

“Preparatory matches like the friendly against European Armenia will help us get ready for the Asian Cup,” he added.

Nekounam linked to Olympiacos last month. He said, “I have one year remaining on my contract. Meanwhile, I have offers from Turkey and Greece. But I’d like to stay in Osasuna and I’ve talked to the team’s officials about it.”
