Persepolis beats Shahin to top IPL [VIDEO]

PTV – TEHRAN, Tehran’s popular soccer squad Persepolis has topped the Iranian Premier League (IPL) table after it notched up a 2-1 win against Shahin FC in the sixth week of the season.

The home side took an early lead when striker Gholamreza rezaei opened the scoring in the third minute of the first half in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium Monday night.

Shahin, coached by Hamid Estili, however, missed the chance to net a goal through a penalty kick in the first half of the game.

The Reds, however, continued to take matters into their own hands in the second half after Maziyar Zare bagged the second goal for his side in the 61st minute of the game.

The visitors pushed forward and Mehdi Nouri managed to narrow the gap eight minutes from time with a long shoot.

The victory helped Ali Daie’s side stand atop the IPL table with 15 points, followed by Zob Ahan on 13 points. Naft sits third with one point less.
