Iraq begin in style

AFC – AMMAN, Asian champions Iraq began their campaign in the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship with a 2-1 win over Yemen on Saturday.

Ali Al Nono gave Yemen a surprise lead in the 10th minute but Samal Said restored the parity four minutes into the restart.

Hawar Mulla Mohammed scored the winner for Wolfgang Sidka’s side in the 72nd minute.

Oman will meet Bahrain in Group A while Kuwait will take on Syria on in the Group B fixture on Sunday.
