Nekounam scores, but Osasuna lose [VIDEO]
PFDC – SANTANDER, Even a good Javad Nekounam could not prevent Osasuna from losing 4-1 to Racing Santander in La Liga on Sunday.
Both Nekounam and fellow Iranian Masoud Shojaei started after scoring last week, but Santander quickly took a two-goal lead.
Osasuna were unlucky, when a correct goal by Javad Nekounam was disallowed, his header had crossed the goalline, but the refereeing team hadn’t been on the spot.
But two minutes before the hourmark Nekounam single handedly pulled a goal back, when his header was stopped by a handplay inside the area and the Iranian midfielder converted the resulting penalty.
But Santander weren’t shocked and scored two further goal to secure three well deserved points.
Shojaei, who was subbed out after 61 minutes, moments before Santander’s third goal, like all of his teammates had a rather unconvincing display. However, he still had been involved in some dangerous offensive scenes. Nekounam undoubtedly was the best player of Osasuna with a flawless performance in midfield.
