PFDC – WOLFSBURG/TEHRAN, The Iranian national team coach Afshin Ghotbi announced to call up VfL Wolfsburg star Ashkan Dejagah.

Ghotbi confirmed that the German Bundesliga star is ready to join the Iranian football national team. However, the Iranian football federation (IFF) has to await FIFA’s permission in this matter.

The Iranian-born striker already played for Germany’s U21 as well as several German youth teams, however, according to FIFA’s latest ruling should still be eligible to play for Iran’s national team.

Dejagah started his professional playing career in 2004-05 at Hertha BSC Berlin. After seven years of playing for the metropolitans, the 24-year-old moved to Bundesliga rival VfL Wolfsburg in 2007.
