Peyrovani steps down as Iran U-23 football coach

MNA – TEHRAN, Gholamhossein Peyrovani quit as coach of Iran U-23 football team on Monday.

Iran U-23 football team, which was the favorite to win the gold medal of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, suffered two successive losses against Japan and South Korea.

“In the two months remaining to the London Olympic qualifiers I hope the officials can find a good replacement,” Peyrovani said.

Speaking out about Iran’s Olympic Committee Secretary General, he added, “Iran football federation had confidence in me, but Mr. Afsharzadeh was disappointing us from day one.”
