kafashian-bluePFDC – TEHRAN, The Iranian football federation (IFF) will not make a decision on the new national team coach before the friendly match against Russia on Wednesday, February 9.

The IFF, lead by heavily critisized Ali Kapfashian (pictured), had been already close to signing top coach Carlos Queiroz, but also have former French national team coach Roger Lemerre on their wishlist, and now need more time to weigh their option.

However, with other teams from the Persian Gulf, like Saudi Arabia or Qatar, looking for a new coach as well, this delay might prove costly for Iran’s football.

Meanwhile caretaker Alireza Mansourian said he will announce a 22-men roster for the Russia game still on Friday.
