Futsal_Brasil_Gold_Pan_2007PTV – TEHRAN, World champion Brazil has defeated Iran 3-2 in a friendly futsal match in the city of Isfahan in central Iran.

The Brazilian squad came from behind to edged past Iran for the second time in a week at Isfahan’s Pirouzi Arena on Saturday.

Alberto Silva scored the opener for Brazil in the seventh minute, and the rest of the first half saw the Iranians pressing hard for an equalizer, but ultimately in vain.

The Iranian team managed to level the game in the early minutes of the second half thanks to Asghar Hassanzadeh’s goal.

A few minutes later, Afshin Kazemi put Iran ahead with a short-range volley into the goal.

Gomez equalized the match for Brazil, and Silva scored his second goal of the day to seal the victory against the Asian champions.

The two teams played another friendly on Wednesday, with Brazil winning 4-3.

Following the match, Iranian head coach Hossein Shams said, “We could have won the match. These kinds of matches can help our players gain experience against powerful teams like Brazil.”

Brazilian futsal officials have invited Iran to take part in the Brazil futsal Grand Prix 2011.

Brazil is the top team in the world according to the official rankings and has won a record three straight championships in the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The Iranian team is in fourth place in the FIFA Futsal World Rankings.
