Iran to face Metalist Kharkiv in Austria
PFDC – LOIPERSDORF/VIENNA, Iran’s national team will face Ukrainian clubside Metalist Kharkiv in a friendly match during their training camp in Austria.
The game will take place at 18:00 local time on July 4 in Oberwart, near Team Melli’s training camp in Loipersdorf.
The match will be the first one since Portugese Carlos Queiroz took over and it will be a tough one, considering Metalist finished third in Ukraine’s Premier League last season and will play in UEFA Europa League next season.
Also the Ukrainians will play two friendly matches before the test against Iran and are expected to be in good shape already at the time of the encounter.
Iran will hold their training camp with 30 players from June 25 to July 10, before taking on Madagascar in Tehran in their first official friendly match on July 17.
On July 23 and 28 the Iranian national team will take on Maldives in World Cup qualification.
Another friendly match against Venezuela in Azadi stadium is set for August 10.
On September 2 the next stage of World Cup qualification will kick off in which Iran has to finish among the top two teams in a yet undetermined group of four in order to qualify for the final round of qualification.
