Iran 2nd at Asian Futsal Club C’ship
PTV – DOHA, The Iranian club Shahid Mansouri has lost to Nagoya Oceans of Japan to stand second at the 2011 Asian Futsal Club Championship in Qatar.
Nagoya Oceans came from behind to beat Shahid Mansouri 3-2 at Doha’s Al Rayyan Main Hall on Friday, AFP reports.
The Iranians took the lead when Hamid Nasiri fired home on a corner kick, and doubled their tally only second before the break through a strong shot by Morteza Azimaei.
Nagoya Oceans pulled one back when Rafael Henmi teed up the ball for Kenichiro Kogure to score the opener.
Morioka Kaoru tapped in an easy ball to equalize for the Japanese, and push the match into extra time.
The first period of the extra time ended goalless, but Tamoaki Watanabe tucked in the winner for Nagoya Oceans on a rebound with three minutes to the final whistle.
Meanwhile, Lebanese club Al Sadaka overcame Al Rayyan of Qatar in penalties after a 4-4 draw to claim the third place of the event.
Shahid Mansouri’s player Mohammad Keshavarz was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament by the AFC.
He scored two goals in the tournament, including an extra time winner in the 6-5 semifinal victory over Al Rayyan on Thursday.
Iran’s Foulad Mahan Sepahan won the title in the inaugural edition of the competition in 2010.
