Madagascar arrive in Iran with 19 players
PFDC – TEHRAN, The football national team of Madagascar arrived in Tehran with a purely domestic 19-men-squad for the friendly match against Iran on Sunday (19:30 Tehran Time, Azadi stadium).
The numerous legionnaires, who, however, mostly play in the French lower divisions, were not available, but the domestic players are mainly national team regulars.
Madagascar, currenly in 138th position in the FIFA ranking, most recently lost 1-4 to Guinea in an away match of African Nations Cup qualificication in June, but had managed to hold the same opponent to a 1-1 draw at home in March.
The friendly match will be Carlos Queiroz’ first official match as Iran coach ans serves as preperation for the World Cup qualifiiers against the Maldives on July 23 and 28.
