AFC – DUBAI, Bahrain played a 1-1 draw with Oman in an international friendly that had to be abandoned due to power failure on Wednesday.

The floodlights went off in the 65th minute and the officials had to called off the remaining period as the power could not be restored.

Earlier, Ahmed Hadid put Oman ahead in the 25th minute but the Bahrainis battled back with an equaliser from Mahmoud Abdulrahman four minutes before half-time.

Both the teams are preparing for the third round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers starting next month.

This was Bahrain’s first game under their new coach Peter Taylor. Bahrain were placed in Group E of the qualifiers alongside Iran, Qatar and Indonesia and will begin their campaign against Qatar at home on September 2.

Oman will host Saudi Arabia in their qualifying opener on September 2. Australia and Thailand are the other two teams in this group.
