Minister vows support to Iran’s soccer

PTV – TEHRAN, Iran’s Minister for Sports and the Youth, in a meeting with the Iranian Football Federation officials, said he will do his utmost to ensure the further success of the Persian soccer squad.

The newly appointed Iranian Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mohammad Abbasi, accompanied with his deputies and the local Football federation authorities, paid an official visit to the country’s National Football Academy, reported IRNA on Wednesday.

“I would like to ask the Iranian footballers to muster all their talent and willpower for an ever-stronger presence in upcoming international soccer events”, said Abbasi.

Iran’s top sports official, also briefly conversed with the Head Coach of Iran’s National Football Team Carlos Queiroz, urging him and the footballers to persevere in demonstrating a powerful presence in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“We will support any and all of our athletes in their preparation for a successful participation in international competitions,” Abbasi added.

According to the Iranian Football Federation’s website, Abbasi concluded his visit by saying, “The Football federation and the Sports Ministry should act seamlessly and in complementary unison in order to ensure conquering the highest competitive peaks. We will not withhold any support to encourage, facilitate and expedite this end.”
