Nekounam doubtful ahead of Barcelona highlight

PFDC – TEHRAN/PAMPLONA, Iran captain and Osasuna midfielder Javad Nekounam (31) will likely miss the Barcelona clash on September 17th due to an injury of his left hamstring which became acute during Iran’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Persian Gulf side Qatar on last Tuesday.
After a harsh tackle of a Qatari player, the midfield specialist was forced to leave the pitch only after barely 30 minutes.
According to the Iranian news agency Mehrnews, Nekounam complained about severe pain in his left knee which won’t allow him to wear Osasuna’s jersey for the next three or four weeks.
Osasuna will host Sporting Gijon in the second round of the Spanish “La Liga” in Pamplona on Sunday, the Barcelona clash will be on September 17th in Catalonia.
