‘Gucci’ scores, Dejagah shines
PFDC – WOLFSBURG, Possible Team Melli candidates Reza Ghoochannejhad and Ashkan Dejagah impressed in Europe on Saturday.
While ‘Gucci’ scored his seventh goal of the season in struggling St. Truiden’s 2-4 loss to Germinal Beershoot in Belgium, Ashkan Dejagah assisted both of Croatian Mandzukic’s goals in Vfl Wolfsburg’s 2-1 win over Nuremberg.
Ghoochannejhad’s penalty goal puts him second in the scorers’ list.
Dejagah, who set up the first goal with a cross and the second by winning a penalty, has two assists and two goals to his name in five Bundesliga appearances this season.
The former Hertha Berlin striker, despite having turned down Team Melli twice in the past, has been called up by Carlos Queiroz for the World Cup qualifier against Bahrain (6-0). However, Dejagah couldn’t join – allegedly due to an injury – but remains on the Portugese’s wishlist for the upcoming games against Bahrain and Indonesia in November.
Iranian papers report that Queiroz will visit Dejagah in Germany to discuss the 25-year-old’s future in the Iranian national team.
Meanwhile Ghoochannejhad hasn’t been approached directly yet, but reportedly is one of Queiroz’ targets as well.
