Esteghlal edges 10-man Mes of Sarcheshmeh [VIDEO]

MNA – TEHRAN, Esteghlal football team defeated rock-bottom Mes of Sarcheshmeh in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) thanks to a solitary strike from Milad Meydavoudi.


In the match held at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Sunday, Esteghlal returned to the top of the IPL standings table with a 1-0 win over Mes of Sarcheshmeh.

Referee Mohsen Ghahremani sent off Mes of Sarcheshmeh defender Nader Fatollahi just a few seconds into the match due to a bad tackle on Andranik Teymourian.
 
Afterward, the IPL pacesetter dominated the match but lacked a cutting edge in the first half.
 
Meydavoudi eventually scored the decider with a shot from the penalty area in the 56th minute.
 
Teymourian also was sent off in the 83rd minute after tussling with his teammate.
 
“I am not satisfied with the way my players played. Mes reduced to ten men from the start of the match but our players failed to take advantage of their chances,” Parviz Mazlumi said.
 
In the other matches, Sepahan came from behind to beat Malavan 3-2, Zob Ahan was held to a goalless draw against Shahrdari of Tabriz, Saipa played out a 0-0 draw with Foolad and Saba defeated its host Sanat Naft 3-2.
 
Esteghlal returned to the top of the IPL standings with 26 points, followed by Naft and Saba both with 25 points.
