Denizli to take Persepolis hot seat
MNA – TEHRAN, Sources close to Persepolis football club said on Tuesday Mustafa Denizli was close to become the team’s new coach.
The 61-year-old Turk, who has already refused Tehran-based popular club’s offer in September, will more likely replace Hamid Estili as Persepolis head coach. Denizli has worked in Persepolis football team in 2006-07 season but has never won a cup in the most popular team.
The former Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas coach — a man to lead the giants to win Turkish Super League title — told the Turkish media he has negotiated with Persepolis’s officials.
Denizli took charge of Besiktas football team in 2008 and won the double in his first season but quit his job in the summer of 2010 due to health problem.
Now, it’s expected that he will return to Iran to coach his former club.
Persepolis has lost to its archrival Esteghlal in the Iranian Professional League in Tehran derby. The Tehran-based team is seventh in the standings table.
