Aghily in contention for AFC Player of Year

aghili99MNA – KUALA LUMPUR, Hadi Aghily from Iran is among six men shortlisted for the AFC Player of the Year Award on Wednesday.

The shortlist for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Player of the Year award has been narrowed down to six after an announcement.

Japan pair Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa, Korean duo Koo Ja-Cheol and Yeom Ki-Hun and Uzbekistan’s Server Djeparov and Iran’s Aghily are the final six men in contention for the honor.

Iranian Andranik Teymourian along with Japanese striker Shinji Kagawa, Bahrain forward Ismaeel Abdullatif and Ismail Matar from the UAE who had found a place in the top ten last week, have been left out of the list.
 
AFC has also announced the top three nominees for the 2011 AFC Women’s Player of the Year accolade.
 
Japan captain Homare Sawa, who won the Golden Ball and Golden Boot during the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany this year, is among the nominees alongside her Nadeshiko teammates goalkeeper Ayumi Kaihori and Aya Miyama.
 
The AFC Player of the Year award will be presented at a grand ceremony on November 23 at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
