Nekounam strike sinks Betis [VIDEO]

PFDC – PAMPLONA, An injury time goal by Iran captain Javad Nekounam secured three points for Osasuna in La Liga on Sunday.

Osasuna, who are still missing the injured Masound Shojaei, hosted Betis Sevilla and took a first half lead through Flano, following a corner kick. However, Martin’s equalizer ten minutes from time seemed to secure a point for the visitors.

But Nekounam once more underlined his importance for Osasuna when he stepped up to take a freekick in the third and final minute of stoppage time and curled the ball past the keeper and into the net.

Osasuna remain in outstanding seventh position, however, Javad Nekounam will miss the next game due to picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Elsewhere, Ashkan Dejagah played 78 minutes and assisted a goal with a freekick as Vfl Wolfsburg failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead to finally draw Mainz 2-2 in German Bundesliga on Saturday.

In Belgium, Sint Truiden suffered a 2-3 defeat to Mons. While Belgium’s current second best goalscorer Reza Ghoochannejhad failed to add to his ten league goals, leading goalscorer Jeremy Perbet of Mons scored all three goals of his side, extending his lead to six goals.

‘Gucci’, who reportedly is chased by Belgian outfits Genk, however, assisted one of his side’s goal.
