Iran beats Moldova in Commonwealth Cup

TEHRAN TIMES – SAINT PETERSBURG, Iran defeated Moldova 3-0 at the 2012 Commonwealth of Independent States Cup on Friday.
 
Behnam Barzay put the Persians into the lead in the 20th minute and Sardar Azmoun and Abdollahzadeh scored for Iran in the injury times.
 
Iran has already defeated Lithuania and Tajikistan in the competitions and drew with Belarus. Akbar Mohammadi’s outfit has lost to Latvia.
 
Iran is scheduled to play Lithuania on Sunday for fifth place.
 
The 2012 Commonwealth of Independent States Cup is the 20th annual Commonwealth of Independent States Cup since its establishment in 1993.
 
The even, which continues till January 29, has brought a total of 12 teams together.
