Rubin Kazan lose in Europa League
PFDC – KAZAN, Rubin Kazan suffered a bitter 0-1 home defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff on Tuesday afternoon.
Torrijos’ 71st minute goal put Olympiakos in excellent position for the return league while the visitors’ keeper Carroll saved a penalty kick later in the game.
With Kazan’s number one keeper Ryzhikov being unavailable due to suspension, reserve keeper Arlauskis played the full game with newly aquired Iranian keeper Alireza Haghighi remaining on the bench and getting his number three position confirmed.
The return leg will take place Thursday next week.
