Ferguson says Iran’s coach could become his sucessor
TEHRAN TIMES – MANCHESTER, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson signaled in a radio interview that Iran manager Carlos Queiroz or Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho would be ideal candidates to Manage Manchester United after he retires.
In an interview on Britain’s Radio One with DJ Spoony, Ferguson was asked if Mourinho or Queiroz – who has coached Real Madrid, Man U and Portugal – would make ideal candidates due to their stock in the game.
Sir Alex Ferguson replied: “That’s right. These are good managers with proven track records.”
“We need to go down that road at United. We need to have someone with experience,” he added.
The 70-year old Manchester United manager, who has been at his post for 25 years, tipped Mourinho as the prime contender to succeed him and tame the “beast” of Old Trafford’s club.
