Iran replace UAE with Mauretania
PFDC – TEHRAN, Iran found a short-term replacement for the UAE, who had canceled Tuesday’s friendly match against Team Melli due to polictical reasons.
Mauretania’s national team will travel to Iran to face Carlos Queiroz’ men in a test match in the coming days, IFF president Ali Kafashian confirmed on Monday.
The exact date and time of the match still have to be announced.
Queiroz had already named 18 players, excluding almost all foreign based players as well as players of the three Iranian clubs engaged in the Asian Champions League, for the clash against a depleted UAE side.
Mauretania stand in position 202 of the FIFA ranking and have never qualified for any major tournament.
Iran have also set a friendly match against Mozambique in Tehran on May 2.
