Nekounam captains Osasuna in La Liga draw

PFDC – VILLAREAL, Raul Garcia’s second half strike gave Osasuna a 1-1 draw against Villareal in La Liga on Saturday night.

The Basques lost another precious two points in their aim for Europa League qualification, however, are all but out of contention.

Iranian defensive midfielder Javad Nekounam played good 90 minutes and especially defensively convinced.

However, Nekounam was also unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet, when his great shot rattled the goalpost in first half.

The 31-year-old, who also got booked during the game, captained the side from minute 66 on after regular skipper Punal was subbed out.

Nekounam’s compatriot Masoud Shojaei is still not matchfit, however, meanwhile back on the training pitch.
