Manuel Jose arrives in Iran to lead Persepolis
PressTV – TEHRAN, Veteran Portuguese manager Manuel Jose has arrived in the capital city of Tehran to steer Iranian giant Persepolis in Iran’s next Premier League.
The former Benfica and Sporting Lisbon coach arrived in Tehran on Wednesday morning and was welcomed by the club’s fans.
Jose, Gabriel Calderon, and Bruno Metsu were among candidates to lead all-star Persepolis.
The agreement with Jose was made after Turkish manager Mustafa Denizli announced his resignation from Persepolis, which finished the previous season in 12th place.
The 66-year-old manager has more than 30 years of coaching experience. He previously guided Egyptian club al-Ahly until May.
Jose was also the manager of Vitoria de Guimaraes, Sporting CP, Sporting de Braga, Boavista, Benfica, Belenenses, and Angola.
