Jabbari extends with Blues, Zayed returns to Reds [VIDEO]
PFDC – TEHRAN, Mojtaba Jabbari extended his contract with Esteghlal Tehran. The gifted Iranian international playmaker had been rumoured to leave the club with reports linking him to Sepahan, Tractor Sazi and the Qatar Stars league.
However, the 29-year-old finally decided to stay at Esteghlal, who meanwhile released midfielder Iman Mobali.
Mobali had joined the Blues from the UAE during this tranfer window, however, has been loaned out to Paykan due to the surplus of midfielders at the club and to make room for an additional transfer.
According to several reports, this transfer could be Iran captain Javad Nekounam of CA Osasuna, however, while Esteghlal is unwilling to pay any transfer fee for the 31-year-old, the La Liga team demand €2.5 million.
Veteran goalkeeper Mohammad Mohammadi had suffered a similar fate as Mobali last week. The 33-year-old had signed with Esteghlal recently but was loaned out to Rah Ahan in order to make room for the transfer of Fabio Januario from Sepahan.
Iran’s clubs are subject to fixed transfer contingents only allowing certain numbers of players from fellow Iranian league teams and foreign clubs to sign during a transfer window.
Meanwhile Eamon Zayed has renewed his contract with Persepolis Tehran for another year.
The Libyan international is the third high-profile striker to sign with the Reds for next season after Iranian international strikers Mohammad Ghazi and Karim Ansarifard.
The transfer period for inner-Iranian transfers ended tonight whereas the 2012/13 Persian Gulf league season will kick off next Thursday.
