Tunisia agree on Iran friendly
PFDC – TUNIS, Iran and Tunisia will hold a football friendly in Budapest, Hungary on August 15, the website of the Tunisian football federation (FTF) confirmed on Thursday.
Iran had proposed a friendly match between the two sides on the FIFA matchday and Tunisia coach Hatem Trabelsi had quickly given his approval, but disagreement on the exact match date – Tunisia wanted the game to be held two days earlier – had put the test match in doubt.
However, the FTF now finally approved the initial plan to hold the game on August 15 in a board meeting on Thursday and gave green light to proceed with the planning of the game.
Iran, who are preparing for a World Cup qualifier in Lebanon on September 11, will hold a training camp in Hungary prior to the match.
Team Melli have booked a friendly match with Syria in Tehran on September 4, but the situation in Syria of course might lead to a cancellation of the game.
Tunisia, currently ranked 43rd in FIFA rankings, seven spots ahead of Iran, are gearing up for their World Cup qualifier in Sierra Leone on September 7.
