Former Sydney keeper Reddy joins Esteghlal
TEHRAN TIMES – TEHRAN, Iran’s Esteghlal announced the signing of former Sydney keeper Liam Reddy on Sunday.
Reddy is said to have signed a two-year contract worth an estimated $200,000 per season, a significant pay rise on what he stood to earn in his final year at Sydney FC, Sydney Morning Herald reported.
On 29 March 2012 Liam Reddy was sent home to Australia from a trip to New Zealand after allegedly being drunk on the plane. He was subsequently suspended from the rest of the 2011-12 finals campaign.
After being sacked, he was training alone under former Soccerooo goalkeeper Jim Fraser and was linked to a move to the Western Sydney Wanderers, before agreeing terms with Esteghal.
Liam Reddy will have a tough task competing with Esteghlal keeper Mehdi Rahmati.
