PerspolisDisappointedPressTV – TEHRAN, Star-studded Persepolis has disappointed its fans in the second week of Iran’s Premier League (IPL) after it was defeated by Fajr Sepasi 3-2 at home.

Playing at an empty Azadi stadium in Tehran on Tuesday night, Amir Hossein Feshangchi scored the opener for the Reds in the 15th minute.

Six minutes after the break, Abbas Mohammadrezaie equalized the match.

Fajr captain Reza Haqighi scored his team’s second goal from the penalty spot in the 75th minute and Mehdi Nazari scored the third goal on a counterattack in the injury time.

Reds’ substitute Mohammad Ghazi pulled one back for the hosts in the 93rd minute, but the second week match finished 3-2.

Persepolis invested millions of dollars in veteran Portuguese manager Manuel Jose and many expensive players but it has not played a good football in the first two matches of the current season of the IPL.

Fajr is now leading the league table with six points.

Elsewhere in Tehran, Rah Ahan defeated Gahar Zagros 3-1 with all goals scored in the first half.

On Wednesday, Esteghlal is to take on Saipa at the Azadi stadium, Aluminum Hormozgan is scheduled to play against Damash, defending champion Sepahan will face Foulad, Zob Ahan will meet Saba, Mes will play Naft Tehran, Teraktorsazi will challenge newcomer Peykan, and Malavan is set to come up against Naft Abadan.
