dejagah_fulhamPFDC – LONDON, Iranian international winger Ashkan Dejagah finalized his three-year contract with Premier League outfits Fulham shortly before the end of the summer transfer period on Friday.

Dejagah currently is sidelined with a muscle injury he suffered still in Wolfsburg’s training on Wednesday and will miss Iran’s upcoming World Cup qualifier in Lebanon.

The former Hertha Berlin man had been put under pressure by Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath to either prematurely extend his contract, which had been valid until summer 2013, or leave the club in order to guarantee a transfer fee.

Dejagah, who impressed with three goals and ten assists in Bundesliga last season, opted for the latter and now joined Dimitar Berbatov & Co. at Fulham, who had finished in disappointing ninth position of the table in 2011/12 and so far claimed three points out of two games this season.

Reportedly, he cost the London based club € 2.5 million, although no official statement was made on the exact sum.

“I’m very happy to be signing for Fulham and to come and play in the Premier League”, Dejagah was quoted on the club’s official homepage.

“I know Sascha [Riether] well and he told me very good things about the club and, after I had spoken to the manager and heard about the project here, I was convinced.

“So I am happy to be here and will give my best for the club and our fans.”

But the German Bundesliga champion of 2009 also thanked his many fans in Wolfsburg for his great time there on his Facebook page:

“Thank you for a wonderful time at Vfl Wolfsburg and am happy about my switch to FC Fulham now, thereby fulfilling my childhood dream of playing in the Premier League.

“You have always been a good support and always stood behind me, so many thanks to all of you!”
