Lebanon, Qatar lose friendlies
PFDC – BEIRUT, Iran’s next World Cup qualifying opposition Lebanon suffered a 0-3 defeat to Australia in a friendly match on Thursday.
The Cedars, who will host Team Melli next Tuesday, conceded first half goals Cahill and McKay, before a late Thompson goal sealed the win for the Socceroos.
Meanwhile Qatar, who will play their next qualifier against Uzbekistan in October, suffered a surprisingly 1-2 home defeat to Tajikistan. Sebastian Soria scored the late conciliation for the Persian Gulf country.
South Korea will have no test ahead of their clash with Uzbekistan next week, where they will have to do without influential Bundesliga winger Koo Ja-Cheol, who is also doubtful for the Iran clash in October due to an ankle injury.
Uzbekistan will face Kuwait in their dress rehearsal for the Korea game on Friday.
